DKI Jakarta ialah Ibukota negara Republik Indonesia, dan sekaligus sebagai sebuah kota yang setingkat dengan Provinsi sehingga yang mengepalai kota jakarta ialah seorang Gubernur.

Terdapat beberapa nama yang pernah menjabat sebagai orang no-1 di Jakarta.

Soemarno Sosroatmodjo ialah orang yang pertama kali menjabat sebagai Gubernur kota Djakarta, yang ketika itu belum disebut dengan DKI Jakarta.

Soemarno Sosroatmodjo menjabat sebagai Gubernur Djakarta mulai tahun 1960, kemudian pada tahun 1961 nama Djakarta diubah menjadi DKI jakarta dengan status pemerintahan Daerah Tingkat 1 dan Soemarno Sosroatmodjo tetap menjabat sebagai Gubernur DKI Jakarta hingga tahun 1964.




Namun sebelum Jakarta dikepalai oleh seorang Gubernur, semenjak tahun 1945 hingga tahun 1959 kota jakarta ialah sebuah kotapraja yang dikepalai oleh seorang walikota.

Raden Soewiryo ialah orang pertama yang menjadi Walikota jakarta, yang dulu masih disebut dengan kota Jakarta Raya.
